How to add special characters and emojis?

The function to add emojis and special characters is built in to the OS and is easy to use (This function does not work in every program and is only available in OS X 10.7 or higher)

Emojis:

In the edit menu at the top left hand of your screen you will find “Emoji & Symbols” all the way at the bottom of this menu.

Once you click on this option it will bring up a menu which you can then add emoji characters. Find the one that you want and then click on it to add it to your text.

Special Characters:

There is no menu option for special characters. Rather you can find these by simply holding down the key of the letter on the keyboard and it will bring up the options you can choose from.
